Ah, ok. They didn't offer me that option. I guess it will be the same with most utility and cable companies until I can build up some credit history.

They were definitely $3.99 on Saturday, so if they're on offer then I'll go back this weekend and get some. If only they had the chocolate ones then I'd buy the whole store full :lol:

World Market is great and they've got some good offers on chocolate at the moment but $4 for a pack of Hobnobs and $7 for a bag of Malteasers is a bit steep! Guess I've not been in the US long enough...

I opened a bank account last week (I'm on a J-1 visa) and it was very easy. I just had to show them my passport, visa and fill in a couple of forms. This was with UMB though, who I think are specific...

I've just accepted a postdoc position in the US (subject to passing my viva) and turned down another, so there are definitely positions available for international applicants. The pay is pretty poor...
