Also, has anyone...

Re: Best dog-friendly areas

Yes, that is sad. In the British Columbian mountain town where I live, the majority of dogs are well looked after, but despite the miles of hiking trails here, many dogs seem to spend all day outside...

Re: Best dog-friendly areas

Moses – yes, you are correct (well-researched!) we always had France in mind, but are open-minded. Obviously Brexit has made going anywhere in Europe less easy than it was. We just want to end up...

Best dog-friendly areas

Hi, we are thinking about a move to Portugal (and I do need to do some research, so I am being slightly lazy here) and just wondering if there are any opinions on the best dog-friendly areas to live...

Re: What Do You Wish You Brought Or Left Behind

I wish I'd brought our good M&S oak furniture and left some of the smaller stuff with less value. It is hard to find nice wood furniture here without spending a fortune.

Re: UK pension – tax question

Thanks for all the responses. Regarding the monthly pension amounts, all I had to do to avoid double taxation was to tell HMRC I was resident in Canada and they stopped taxing it. It was just the...

UK pension – tax question

Hi, sorry if this has been discussed before (I did a search but couldn't find anything). I understand that a monthly UK pension amount will be taxed in Canada. However, I can't seem to find a...

Re: Travelling to France as UK citizens from Canada

Yes, that's correct. Apologies, my post was not very clear. If it wasn't for the doggie we would have gone in plenty of time, before the Covid-19 problem.

The info above was helpful. Covid-19 is a...

Travelling to France as UK citizens from Canada

Hi, I have been reading the French government website but I am still unsure, and wonder if anyone else has been looking at this situation.

We are UK citizens currently resident in Canada, but wish...

Re: Crossing the Atlantic with a dog

Jersey girl: Probably not before September, but hopefully no later than mid November. Looks like Air France is the only option, though they are flying fewer planes at the moment.

Re: Crossing the Atlantic with a dog

Yep, I realize that too. I jam just trying to see if there is anything I haven't yet thought of. I don't want to put my dog in a cargo hold – I just don't think it's right or very nice for dogs....

Re: Crossing the Atlantic with a dog

Hi, yes, I have read that the UK won't allow dogs in cabins. But I would be happy to go to France (or surrounding countries) instead, since France is to be our final destination.

Can anyone recommend an airline?

Re: Renewing PR– question about ID docs

On the current checklist document it just says 'clear and legible copy' and it is not mentioned on the actual application itself, so I am wondering if it has changed.
