Re: What's car insurance prices like for returnees?

I don't think that it's a NCB/NCD thing. From some of the past threads that I found through the search engine, it appears that there are some insurance companies that will take overseas NCB/NCD. So I...

Hello All,

I was trying out some car insurance websites and making the assumption that they would accept my no claims from the US, tried to get some quotes.

My wife and I are in a slightly similar situation in that we both live in the US, I am a UK citizen and she is not. From my...

Hello Pennylessindia,

Thanks for your response. I actually posted this here first and then on the immigrationboards. I've read the responses there and agree with the advice given.

Thanks again.

Re: Wait 3 1/2 months for ILE?

I am the UK citizen and my wife not. She hasn't done the KoL yet.

The timeline is a little bit more complicated than posted above. I've been told from work that I'm going to be made redundant at...

Re: Spousal settlement visa question USA to UK.

Well there's the first spanner in the works. I had read that expeditors could push the visas through in a couple of days. So though I didn't like the idea of them, I was going to grin and bear it.

Re: 4mth update

Hello Triboy,

There's a multitude of difficulties I think expats face when returning home, add to that a husband, wife or partner that hasn't lived in the UK and it can be even harder.

One of...

Re: Can you take the KoL test while on holiday in the UK?

Thanks for the excellent information. My only thing was that if we go to the UK for the test it's going to be the cost of two return flights, holiday expenses, etc. Depending on where you're flying...

Re: Can you take the KoL test while on holiday in the UK?

Did you study the book first? Is it one of those things that if you read it once you should be okay or is it A Level Physics time again.

Re: Can you take the KoL test while on holiday in the UK?

I don't know how long the certificate lasts and can't find anything in relation to that. I don't think that it's any cheaper coming for a holiday and taking the test then. It may actually be more...

Re: Can you take the KoL test while on holiday in the UK?

Thanks for that. Your response tally's with what I've just read on some other sites.

As a follow up, if by chance you fail the test, is there a waiting period before you can take it again?

Question on SS payments in the US effect on UK pension.

Hello All,

From what I understand if you work in the US and return to the UK, social security payments in the US can be counted towards your UK pension, I think it's down to the reciprocal social...

I must admit for a while I thought there was just one John posting on this thread and now I notice it's two.

Anyway, even if you are staying with friends or relatives you do need to...

Re: Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) and the 4 year rule.

I feel the same way that if it's possible for the UK spouse to do so, it's easier for them to move first and then the non UK spouse afterwards. However, this does depend on the personal circumstances...

Re: Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) and the 4 year rule.

You cannot apply for a spousal visa from within the UK. So the spouse would have to have a return ticket and could not remain within the UK.

Re: Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) and the 4 year rule.
