Certainly my fault for not chasing it up. However, I had a lot of problems with mail here in the UAE (I didn't get about 95% of my redirects) and I did try emailing hmrc guys a long time ago as well...

Is it true that phone calls are hideously expensive from the UAE because of Etisalat's monopoly? I also head that VoIP providers such as Skype are blocked by the ISPs. Is this true?

I think I might opt for a 4x4 as well (I was thinking maybe a Toyoto Prado) just since it appears to be insane...

Since most landlords ask for annual rent in advance, do employers normally help out by giving at least a portion of the annual housing allowance upfront? If not, what are the options?

Oh yes. Forgot about nuseries. I hear they can be around 1500-2000 a month for decent ones (not unlike London). Where do you send your two year old? I would love a recommendation.

I just wanted to know, is (Dhs 24K salary + Dhs 24K housing allowance) = 48K per month a decent salary in Dubai/Abu Dhabi?
