Re: the road to stradbroke island

People who end up parking in rivers or wedging their trucks between buildings should be charged with driving without due care and attention, if not dangerous driving - they're clearly not paying...

Re: IELTS speaking partner

When I learned French and Spanish at school, we had to listen to taped news bulletins and then answer questions on them. You very quickly pick up nuances in language this way - You can get BBC radio...

Re: The Internet Radio Station Recommendation Thread

I like jackfm - there are several regional stations in the UK, all available on t'internet. after 9 in the morning, there's no DJs, just music (and adverts), the adverts mostly have a sense of humour...

Re: Unable to determine my eligibility for a skilled emmigration

Hi Grayman,

First, it depends whether you want a permanent or Temporary visa. I'll presume permanent, which is normally a 175 independent, or 176 sponsored visa. The cut off age for those changed...

Re: ACS Skills assessment and marriage

Don't go on job titles, go on your actual duties. If you've been using MCSE level skills, you've been doing more of a systems admin job. If the MCSE is a bit of paper with no relevance to what you...

Re: Taking my Dog to OZ...

If she's coming from the UK, minimum 30 days in quarantine. With the new rules though, she'll need to be rabies vaccinated, then have the Rabies antibodies test clear at least 6 months before she'll...

Re: NSW SS processing times?

One final update on this then - apparently paperwork arrived this morning, so a total of 8 days between them receiving it and us receiving the approval in the post. In fact, it spent twice as long...

Re: experience claimed for ACS, SS & DIAC

You don't get to choose how many years experience you put forward to DIAC - you fill in the form according to what you've had your skills assessed at and you get the number of points which goes with...

Re: NSW SS processing times?

Hi,

NSW didn't ask for any proof of funds, but I sent them copies of 3 or 4 payslips to prove I'm currently in paid employment in the UK. The actual process was fairly easy, although you can't...

Re: NSW SS processing times?

Just to update this post...

My application had an unexpected stop in Sydney Airport - the tracking showed it had arrived there, but when I phoned AusPost (as Business NSW hadn't received it), it...

Re: Is Electronics Engineering considered as a valid ICT degree in ACS

You haven't said which ANZSCO code you're planning on using, but the guidelines are for a degree majoring in ICT. Personally I'd say your degree was majoring in electronics - there doesn't seem to be...

Re: ACS Assessed only current employment years

Unless they'd only supplied a "standard" reference - x worked for us from x to x doing this job title. Including the same detail with the addition of duties performed shouldn't present any problems,...

Re: ACS Assessed only current employment years

You'd need to get a reference from your previous employers, detailing your main duties which match those for a Systems engineer, not just your job title. This needs to match what you've got in your...

Re: Australian Computer Society ACS - Skill Assessment - Supporting Docs

Hi firedragon,

I've not worked as a freelance, but I've interviewed and employed a lot of people, and big unexplained gaps in CVs are a warning sign for me :) If you've chosen to take the time off...

Re: Special dispensation?

Hi,

I can't offer any specific advice, but there must be mechanisms for this kind of thing. Might be a daft question, but have you tried calling the Australian consulate? It's the kind of query...

Re: Western Australian skilled migration occupation list 2011 - 2012

Agree with the above - 176 is a perm visa so would be the one to go for. Look at the points requirement, the current pass mark is 65 - if you need any extra points, the IELTS English test is...

Re: Australian Computer Society ACS - Skill Assessment - Supporting Docs

Hi firedragon,

You only need the statutory delclaration if for some reason you can't get your employers to give you a reference - maybe they've ceased trading or something like that. If you have...
