The charge was a class III misdemeanor, DV but as I said, the case was dismissed so there was no conviction. I have the original documents relating to the dismissal. I don't think that should...

No there is no conviction. I am a consultant and looking at the Canadian consulate a visa isn't necessary - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/business-checklist.asp.
