Re: Timeline question

Hi Rene,

We tried that but they were refused an ITIN because of their immigration status, namely lapsed VWP.

Speaking to the IRS, the only document that will 'prove' their existence and status...

Timeline question

Hello All,

Can anyone hazard a guess when my kids might receive their SS#'s? And, might the SS# appear before the USCIS interview?

Timeline
09/26/2010 - I-485 & I-130's received by USCIS...

Re: I-864W Question

Unfortunately not. Although I am a USC, I spent most of my life in the UK and had no way to demonstrate that I lived in the US for 5 years prior to their birth (2 of them after my 14th birthday).

Re: I-864W Question

They will definitely go for citizenship ASAP. They are already in the US and have been since their visitor status lapsed in Feb 2009. Our attorney is confident that we'll be OK to submit a I-130 /...

Re: I-864W Question

I am the USC parent and the kids are the only ones immigrating. My wife already has permanent residency.

I know my wife and kids should have applied together but that's a long story.

I-864W Question

Hello all,

I'm filling out these forms for each of my kids (6 & 3 years) and I realize that it's a form to exempt you from the full blown I-864, but I would still have expected the need for some...

Re: Illegal Kids??

Got it! I guess there are no shortcuts here.

I'm just a little pissed that this could all have been done last year.

Thanks all, great advice as per...

Re: Evidence of Time in US? Children's Citizenship

[QUOTE=meauxna;8327944]The problem with this for you is that your kids are already in the US.

I know meauxna, it seems the citizenship angle is dead in the water (as is their trip to the UK in...

Re: Illegal Kids??

Thanks Ian,

Are you saying I should continue to go down the citizenship route? It wasn't clear in your last post :D

Hey Frank,

I know this thread is old now and maybe you're already in the States but I found something that might help you (I'm in a similar boat to you). Meauxma linked me to you.

The US...

Re: Illegal Kids??

I think you're right dreamercon.

One tenuously related question, do you know how I would go about proving that I lived in the US for 5 years prior to age 14. I probably did but moved around a LOT...

Re: Illegal Kids??

It was the immigration lawyer that helped us with my wife's application for permanent residency that advised us to wait the 2 years. We wanted to apply for everyone at the same time last year.

Illegal Kids??

Hello all,

I posted a question here before and got some great advice, hope you can help again. As usual, the USCIS is making us feel like lab-rats in a maze.

Myself, my wife and my 2 kids (6 &...

Re: Running out of time!!

I haven't lived in the US for a consecutive period of more than 6 months in my life. I crossed the Atlantic 48 times by the time I was 16! The problem is that I could only summon up a total of maybe...

Re: Running out of time!!

The kids are definitely NOT USC's and I'm not going to submit an AOS package for them. The $10k came from my first call to USCIS when they listed all of the forms required and fees for each (x 3)....

Re: Running out of time!!

The $10k figure was for the whole family submitting the full AOS package (1 each x 3). The kids have UK passports but, I believe, can apply for US passports if I can show that I've lived in the USA...

I am an American citizen and, having accepted a new job in upstate NY, moved back here in September '08. I've lived in the UK for 25 years. My British wife (of 9 years) and two British kids (5 & 2)...
