Barbaric Danes ?

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
Thats a way of life for some, not all of the Danes, not something I agree with but sadly it happens, the Japanese do a similar thing with the whales and theirs is a year round cull.
Again not something I agree with but, hunting is a big way of life here, I live in the country and certain months of the year they hunt for different things (you have to have a permit of course) definetly not something I'm comfortable with but for those avid fans of hunting you won't change their minds

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
One of my Norwegian granddaughters is into insect-rights. Last time she visited us here in the Caribbean, she stopped me from stomping on a cockroach in the house. Instead, she trapped it under a glass, while I slid a piece of thin cardboard underneath. Then together we carried the cute little beastie outside and released it into the wild. Sigh. This from a descendant of Viking warriors!

Obviously after it was released into the wild you gave it a 10 second start, kicked your daughter into touch and went after it with your 12 bore............then gave it a proper Valhalla sendoff....After all traditions die hard.

No, no! She's the Viking - well, half-Viking -, not me. She should have come up with any Valhalla send-off! The whales of the world are in no danger from her.

Glad too hear it, BTW I'm not a greenie, far from it but hate cruelty practised on sapient creatures, that does not include Crocs, Mozzies and Lobsters etc......

My son is a greenie and a vegetarian, and he allows only two exceptions to the "don't kill live creatures" list: mozzies and lawyers. I'm sure he'd add crocs to the list if any lived nearby.

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
Yes I should have added Lawyers and worse than them, Notaries, real legal parasites. upheld by most European countries' burocracies.

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
Let's look closer to home. The annual mass slaughter of grouse by the ruling classes is about to start. Should we not take care of prbolems in our own back yard before worrying about our Northerly neighbours ?

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
Yes probably but comparing a whale with a grouse is like comparing a dog to a mosquito!

We should sort out our own problems before looking into our neighbour's backyard !

Re: Barbaric Danes ?
You can grouse and they will whale. Grouse unless I am mistaken are bred specifically for hunting in this case, whales breed freely like Danes and.......
There is EU legislation on Whale slaughtering that the Danes choose to ignore just like the Italians that choose to ignore EU Fines and court judgements.

We are considering introducing legislation to reduce the power of the Lairds on those giant feudal estates in our country. The days of the Duke of Sutherland and the Duke of Buccleuch are numbered !

A note from the British Foreign and Commonwealth office-
Local laws and customs
Don’t get involved with drugs of any kind. Although Denmark is generally a liberal society, drug use is illegal and laws are enforced. You will not be treated more leniently than residents. Drug dealers can receive heavy sentences. Anyone found in possession of illegal drugs deemed to be for personal consumption will often receive a police fine of DKK 500.
Homosexuality is legal and Danish law allows same sex marriages.
Whale meat is available in The Faroe Islands but importing it into the UK/EU is illegal under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. Any importation of whale meat to the UK/EU will result in seizure of the goods, possibly a fine of up to £5,000 and a custodial sentence.

I suspect that the Faroese, if they care at all, would be horrified at the extent of child abuse in the UK. Children are regularly beaten and murdered by those adults who are supposed to look after them. See that horrific recent case from Fife.
We can have no pretensions to be a civilised society.

What do the Faroese make of the frequent cases like this one -
Liam Fee: Mother and partner guilty of murdering two-year-old boy - BBC News
There is an epidemic of child abuse here and we are pointing fingers at our Northern neighbours for hunting wild animals ?
