Your New Year Resolutions
So what do you plan to change in your lives, guys and girls. Other than being alot more careful with my money, I don't envisage any major changes in the Mentalist household.;)

Re: Your New Year Resolutions

The usual things - lose a few kilos, be more active, more organised and focused. Take a couple of holidays. Take more photographs. I have set myself various work-related targets. Also, to stop this idiot kitten from climbing up my legs as it hurts. And to continue not smoking. I have up on 23rd December 2012 and over the past year I have had about 30 cigarettes in total. I reckon that's good going and am happy to stick with just having the odd one or two from time to time. Thanks to the kind mates who allow me to steal their fags. |
Re: Your New Year Resolutions
To make a bit more time for myself and get my work life balance back to normal, stop working weekends and be out of work at 8 at the latest. Get back in the gym and start looking after myself better.

To stop buying shit I don't need

Re: Your New Year Resolutions
to spend more time with my parents
and even more time with the family and to stop saying NO to everything as I feel I have started to do now (but I will never admit it in front of her!!) |

Re: Your New Year Resolutions
I am sure this thread was exactly the same last year..............
My resolution is to eat something before going out getting pissed and smoking tabs. Drinking is not the enemy, the hangovers are. Happy New Year |
Re: Your New Year Resolutions

Not missed them at all, was out yesterday which was the big test and passed with flying colours. Just need to get through a week at work now. |
Re: Your New Year Resolutions
GOOD LUCK to everyone stopping smoking. This time next year you'll feel so much healthier
And well done Meow for over one year  Along with getting fit/losing weight/being careful with money, I am really going to do those scrapbooks this summer. Every year I say it but i now have boxes of things waiting to be sorted out. This summer. Definitely. |

Re: Your New Year Resolutions
I gave up smoking as last years resolution (OK it took me until April to kick it but I managed it eventually).
I gave up alcohol, coffee, soft cheeses, and started a much healthier diet since falling pregnant in September so that's pretty everything that's fun already given up (for now!). That just leaves Candy Crush to give up .... on level 306 I think my CC retirement looms. Good luck everyone with their 2014 resolutions! |

Re: Your New Year Resolutions
I have gone cold turkey and deleted candy crush. Let's face it, it's shit.
I have replaced it with Plants vs. Zombies. |

I've set work goals which I won't bore you with.
On a personal front I'd like to cut out sugar from my diet (hard to do when half the food we buy is laced with the stuff), |
Re: Your New Year Resolutions
I am now day 4 of being dry. In 20+ years (Bar 12 days) I have not gone more than 3 days without Alcohol so I have decided to see if my theory is true, that I am not addicted to anything I merely do it as I enjoy it.
The google horror stories have not happened, No shakes, No shit nights sleep or cravings And I am doing it for Cancer Research. (PM if you would like to sponsor me :) ) Do I feel any better?? Nope not at all and it is still just as difficult to get up in the morning. |

Its the January 'Dryathlon'. If I do it without missing alcohol at all it could be a permanent change and I will become one of those twats that goes out only for the works Xmas party and falls asleep.
My New Year's resolution: replace 2 high-salt Korean meals each day with home-made veg juice, and go to the gym at least 4 times a week. |

Good luck. I'll donate a tenner, plus the tenner which Scamp sponsored me for last year. Having started Dryathlon on 1st Jan last year, I returned to AD only to be made redundant the day I got back, so a few beers were had to get over the shock and so on. And I'm not tempting fate again this year, seeing as I'm flying back to sunny Morocco tomorrow...

Good man. I'm avoiding brunches though it would make a novel change to eat more than my usual slice of beef mash potato and floret or broccoli. May plan one for the last weekend as the ultimate challenge to my resolve.
That little ditty is why I go on the wagon every now and again. |

Usually I stay sober for a couple of months a year, just to prove I can. After a couple of days, you're OK. After all, remember the saying- One's too many. two's not enough...
That little ditty is why I go on the wagon every now and again. I'm keen to prove I can, that's the main thing. |

The big plus is that weekends are far more productive, it's a great feeling waking up on Friday/Saturday without a hangover, go to gym then use the rest of the day up without spewing/sleeping. |

I've not drank since NYE (inclusive) - and found it surprisingly easy. We did a brunch on Friday and never missed the booze, just enjoyed the food a lot more.
