The above does not include slimy Lebos, Masris, Jordanians, Syrians etc. Just use some bug remover to get rid of the hair gel and away you go

Whilst on about reasons to get out quick. My family are under orders to hit the airport immediately should they or I run over an Arab on the road especially a rich looking one. I am more than happy to deal with the legal aspects from a non Arab country. Sitting in jail pondering on how to stump up half a million quid blood money for some ****wit who staggers across the road in front of my Range Rover is not an ideal state of affairs.

You'd be surprised at the lack of emergency planning even by the biggest companies.
I used to work for the 2nd biggest oilfield services company operating in Libya (but left before the shit hit the fan). Their emergency response was dismal, with many expats just making their own way to the airport and fighting it out with several thousand others all trying to do the same.

But I guess it depends what sort of crisis it is..nuclear meltdown, war, civil unrest, coup, threat of arrest..If it just meant crossing a border for safety, I'd take the car..and avoid all main roads. If I had a set time before I would be arrested for driving over a local..****, I wouldn't even stop to begin with. Lived with that threat for years..Not worried about blood money, but being lynched.

The question is why you wanna leave within an hr??
Accident with an Local on SZR may be a reasson BUT
if your passport is with your company NO WAY.
Even if you have two passports only in one os your visa and without this you cant leave! No entry no leave simple as that same same in Oman no entry no flight out!
The only way is E-gate and pray that the system work. thinks can be strange here and better be prepared WITHOUT to be paranoid!!!!!
But better keep in mind that strange thinks can happen every day!

Not convinced by the 'running over a local' rationale, since nearly 4 years in the UAE, I don't think I have ever seen a local cross the road...

Accident means running over???
Ok i know a guy from austria who was stopped from two locals ON the SZR and one of them hold a knife on his troat.
Yes it was his fold because he was blocking these guys and showed them the lovely middle finger. Yes its stupid and everybody knows, dont do that BUt it was one of this special days where everything ****ed, i iguess we all have such a days form time to time. No excuse at all im saying only shit can happen!
this is only one sample of thousands which can create problems.
How many Brits are in Jail in UAE???

I know someone in Jail in Qatar because he informed the hostie supervisor that he was going to complain about the service from the hosties on his Qatar airways flight. On arrival in Doha he was held by security and then handed over to the Police where he is banged up awaiting trial for threatening security of an aircraft or words to that effect
So please remember that this is the ME and a fair trial is far from guaranteed

So I hear, when you are put into jail they ( the hundred or so in your cell ) ask you where you are from. When you say British the make an action as to you driving a car and walk away laughing. the others are for money and a few hard core in the main jail for drugs.
So I have heard on the grapevine as I said.
