Men who burnt driver to death are released from prison

http://www.thenational.ae/apps/pbcs....100109933/1010

So - what do you reckon about my chances if I murder someone, burn the body, lie about it - I can spend 12 months in gaol and then just walk away?

It just takes money, and a little wasta...

It's a pay-off, isn't it? Something most Westerners have to deal with when they live out there for any length of time...living in a region where the cultural mores and conventions are completely at odds with those you're used to. You have to remember why you are there (the money and the lifestyle) and ignore, or at the very least turn a blind eye to, all the things that want to nibble away at your conscience (the absurd laws, the driving, the slave labour, etc.)

It's not perfect. It's life. Man.

By strict reading it's if the victim's family accept the (approx) 30,000 GBP blood money.

Just be sure to burn to death someone with a family that will accept payment. What's that Mastercard slogan again? Priceless?

Alternatively, if you are drunk and first sodomise then kill a 4yr old boy in a mosque, just claim to be mentally unbalanced. You may get away with it.

Or you could claim diminished responsibility after wrongdoings are caught on camera!

Originally he was sentenced to 10 years then it was cut to 7 on appeal - disgusting if he has been released earlier.

Having read that article reminds me of something that happened the other week (with fortunately not the same outcome).

Myself and 3 others were getting into a taxi that pulled up for us at the side of the road. 2 men had to stop in the car behind and the driver began honking and flashing the lights etc etc basically having a heart attack at being held up for 2 seconds while we got in.

The car pulled up alongside the taxi drivers window and an argument ensued.
The poor driver didn't really want to get involved but these caracters get my blood boiling in no time so I asked the guy what his problem was. Argument broke out about whether a taxi is allowed to pick passengers on the side of the road or not balh blah blah...

Anyway - the point of the story is....the guy was annoyed at being held up right? So when we eventually stop arguing he would get back to hurrying off to wherever he was going right?

No....he blocks us in and tells taxi man he's going to call police for his bad driving. Taxi drivers evades said angry man....angry man no longer in a hurry because he has all the time to drive the wrong way around roundabouts etc trying to block us in.

These guy are ******ing luncatics. He drove on the left side of a 2lane 2 way road trying to overtake us with a car coming the other way etc etc etc.

The exact same thing could easily have happened as it's a quite heavily pedestrianised area (and poorly lit because Nakhell can't afford their bills).

And honestly. what's the deal with people from this region running to the police evey 3 seconds when they get annoyed at something....it's like 3 year olds telling on their classmate to the teacher.

Horray for Sharia!

You can murder anyone you like...as long as their family accept money all will be well.

No wonder no one here has insurance or savings - just volunteer a disliked relative to be murdered by a rich Arab and you can finally pay off the mortgage and put the kids through madrassa...

I've had a thought (and I've heard all the jokes, so don't bother).......

Wait till Grandad dies of old age, then pick up his corpse and 'escort' him across a busy road..... suddenly he gets hit by a passing car (nothing to do with you pushing him ahead of you so he gets hit) and is 'killed'.

Demand blood money................. and the job's a good 'un.........
