(yet) Another Old Dubai Landmark to be razed
The Ramada, home to the Old Vic and then Lucien's Bar.
It will be closed at the end of August and demolished.
7 days
A bit like Spinneys that shut there recently.
Sad days - although i was never a real fan of the Old Vic, I preferred Goodfellas, it's still, to me, like when the Metropolitan closed - end of an era, but let's now be sentimental hey, onward and upward.

I get the impression that Bur Dubai is now a world unto itself. People who live there really don't go anywhere else, and people outside Bur Dubai really don't go down there either.

Which is a pity, as there are so many things in Bur Dubai that are brilliant - sadly it's not glossy like the image Dubai wants.

Occasionally pop in to some bars, but then get put off by the collection of 57yr old white blokes sat oggling whores and sipping a pint for an hour.

That being said, it's nice to mix it up...also, Music Rooms is an excellent venue and always a good night out.

I'm still unhappy that Golden Star band left the Seaview (because Seaview wanted them out and refused to pay them), and went to Doha.
Music Room is decent, cheap beers before 9pm and a (relatively) hooker free zone.
Have they still got a resident band there, I've not been for a while.

Yep. Although after a few years here it starts to get to you and places like Mirdif start looking interesting. By the by are there any decent bars in the part of the town?

Closest are in Festival City. Belgian Beer Cafe. Then further in Deira is Irish Village in Garhoud area. Both not far by taxi.

I'd of never thought it, but would a demolition subbie make a lot of cash here?? If they got paid on time etc etc.
