Woman Assaulted Near Mall

Re: Woman Assaulted Near Mall
And if you try to save someone from drowning at the beach and fail all I can say is good luck...people go to prison for getting involved here too. Even offering first aid to car crash victims can work against you.
I'd rather face an expensive and "useless" legal system in the UK than the legal system in the UAE (which works on the principle of guilty till proven innocent - then sit in jail after trial for weeks or months till someone remembers to let you out).
Oh, and you can't go to prison for insulting a deity in Britain...you can in the UAE...witchcraft and sorcery are also crimes in the UAE

so how would that work, what would they charge you with if you helped someone after say a traffic accident that you are not otherwise involved with and that person dies in the end...surely it would be obvious that it's not your fault...
I have never seen any mention of it anywhere on infomation websites or books like the Dubai Explorer...

I have heard about this as well, but always in the 'rumour' department, never directly from someone who's actually been charged or involved.

I've completed several EFR courses in Dubai and in every one they tell you; do nothing unless you have permission from the person injured. If they are not able to respond, it's up to you to make a judgement call but you could put yourself at risk. Rumour is - last person in bodily contact is often the one who needs to pay the blood money, but no-one will confirm that to me. Unless I knew the person, I'm afraid, in this part of the world, I'm standing back...and that is sad!
