We all know it is illegal to have sex outside of marriage but you can't help but feel for this woman. She must have been desperate to go to Hospital here and probably knew the consequences. A new born baby and it's Mother are now in jail. So sad

Can't believe it says that a hospital shouldn't accept cases like this! What's the poor woman supposed to do? Jeez if she didn't go to hospital and the baby died, no doubt she would be getting done for murder as well.

Obviously with 20/20 hindsight, it would've made sense to get herself out of the country with the money she paid the hospital before she got to labour.

What can we expect from a theocratic state?

This is one we can never, ever allow religion to come back in Europe in any form...

What if the baby was conceived in a country where pre-marital sex is not illegal? Probably not the case here but just curious as surely she would not have broken the law in that eventuality?

don't think it would make a blind bit of difference, to deliver a baby here you need to be married.

The lack of humanity is so apalling. Surely all right thinking people should have more compassion than this.

well the answer to that is she shouldn't have had sex outside of marriage, she broke the law. But it is never that straight forward.

Woman got a rock hard thing stuck in a poor place, more like it.

Best form of contraception is a two-pence piece held firmly between the knees.
