Boris' ruling is frankly, pointless. The issue of traveling late at night is that people are drunk before they get on the tubes, not that they drink whilst on it.

Read again. The issue is that people are drunk before travelling. Having a can of beer on a 20 minute journey is not geing to lead to debauchery & mayhem. The problem in London, as in much of the UK, is that people drink to excess. That is the issue, not where they do it.

The ban is tokenism.

no I've nearly always used the tube on business trips so no tinnies on the way.

London public transport is fantastic, I've been using it for the past few days. It's awesome. Beats driving any day of the week.

Seems pointless banning drinking on the tube though. People on the tube don't tend to be aggressive while drinking early in the evening (which is when most people tend to drink on the tube)
