What don't you get?
What TV shows, comedians, films etc do you 'not get', or just don't find remotely amusing, yet are seemingly popular and other people like?
My list includes: Lee Evans Harry Hill Withnail & I Mr Bean Mrs Brown's Boys Anything with Adam Sandler Judd Apatow films The Goons (I reserve the right to add to this.) |
Re: What don't you get?
increasingly anything that's deemed as popular

Re: What don't you get?
1 - Last of the Summer Wine
2 - Last of the Summer Wine 3 - Last of the Summer Wine 4 - why Kevin Costner is so unpopular (Dances With Wolves, JFK, and the incomparable Field Of Dreams, plus a few others, ensure him a place among the greats) [EDIT - forgot to add Thirteen Days - brilliant movie abut the Cuban missile crisis] 5 - ditto Nicolas Cage (Raising Arizona, Kick-Ass, and that weird-but-brilliant New Orleans Port: Bad Lieutenant jobby, plus a few others) [EDIT - did I mention Face/Off???] [OK - they may not be Olivier and Gielgud, nor even Pacino and de Niro, but they were perfectly cast for those and other movies] |
Re: What don't you get?
Only Fools and Horses - only fools and idiots find that shit funny.
Russell Peters - I think that's his name, American/Australian/Indian or something, all his jokes are about being Indian and they're all shit. TOWIE / Made in Chelsea / Geordie Shore etc - *****. Mushrooms, Tomato, Tuna - Eurgh. Nothing to get, I just think they're all rancid. |

Re: What don't you get?
The Office, though now I've become a bit more desensitised to the cringe factor
Any reality show especially singing ones In the League of Gentlemen scared me Onesies Teenage girls slpping on the makeup Orange fake tan |
Re: What don't you get?
So far nothing to disagree with. To add to the list, I nominate Michael Macintyre ( sp?) He is as funny as a burning orphanage.
|
Re: What don't you get?
I with Scamp on Towie etc, I don't get Sarah Millican which is odd as she is from my home town, nor do I get Miranda who just isn't funny. Harry Hill is a pain in the arse. BUT I do love Mrs Brown's Boys.

Is it because he's just not "attractive" (lacking in charisma?)? I don't get Mrs Brown's Boys. I found it as funny (albeit not as depressing) as the Likely Lads, an episode of which I tried to watch on Gold the other night--it was at least 10 minutes before they even tried to raise a laugh, and when they did it was so, so lame that I gave up. God we must have been bored then. :( |

While that sounds like a can't lose premise for a movie, it really was shit. Edit to say, looked it up and the movie is called Rumour Has It |
