I get as pissed off as most people with the driving here, but come on, look at the video...the van driver is submissive, knows he's in trouble.

Any decent human being can see that the Emirati is in the wrong, its just bullying.

I would not punch a local though under most circumstances - jail and deportation does not appeal to me.

It's a difficult thing to try and even out. There is every possibility that the van driver was in the wrong, but on the other hand, the Emirati has gone a bit loco, whipping off his head rag to thrash about. The big guy who steps in and can be seen giving the 'Shwey shwey' hand motion, appears to tower over the Emirati guy, and by sheer bulk, appears to cool things down.
On the other hand, however tempting and provoked, clattering a local is a piss poor maneuver.

From Gulf News today:-

The family of the official has filed a case against the person who filmed the video and posted it on YouTube, since it violates the UAE Cybercrime Law, which prohibits anyone from taking videos or pictures in public areas without the acknowledgment of people involved. Such an act is illegal and constitutes defamation, according to Dubai Police.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said police will investigate the complaint since any person with such a video must share it only with police and relevant authorities and not post it in the public domain.
