Hello, I’m living in Doha with my girlfriend (we met here) and might make a weekend trip (1 night stay) to Saudi. Are unmarried couples allowed to stay in the same hotel room?

Was talking to a Saudi friend about this only last weekend. As long as you're both tourists it's okay.

I would add that in ten years of staying in hotels with my wife in Saudi, I've only had to show her ID a few times anyway. This may have been because the kids were with us though so we look like a family unit.

The Law changed two years ago. You don't have to be a tourist or even an expat, It was in response to the high levels of divorce in KSA.

Probably the reason so many are chasing the expats. My compound banned Saudi women three years ago in attempt to clean up its image.
