But what exactly were they trying? What evidence is there and who will get to see it and form a view? Is this secret process likely to give them a fair trial? Criticising the form and style of government is equated to insulting the leaders. Unfortunately in that scenario mad-eyed mullahs can present themselves as the peoples' champions. How can progress ever be achieved?

Some of them were on twitter they were arrested months ago, it is against the Law to form groups to try and instigate a coup. But I agree with how can there be progress, I personally have no issues with the Maktoums running this country, but apparently a lot of Emirati's do.

Re: UAE 'coup' plot
Is being on Twitter a crime? Simply advocating a different form of government is not plotting a coup. And that seems to be the basis of the accusations here - though we don't know that for sure because of course everything is being done in secret and we have to trust that the completely unelected and unimpeachable government is acting in the best interests of the country and the people (whoever they are). Of course the Al Islah/Brotherhood angle is being thrown in to ensure they don't garner any sympathy from the west. Maybe they are terrorists and coup plotters, maybe they aren't but we will never know for sure.
