Re: Twatty Labour
Mail should never have been used anyway. In our company we can only transfer customer account info over a secure ftp, and encrypted. If for any reason it cannot be done that way then we may possibly transport it by car on CD, encrypted with 2 people in the car. This option has never been used. I cannot believe that they made such a basic error.

Re: Twatty Labour
Exactly. Anybody who was in a position to be in posession of this data should have known its importants and not freaking mailed it, you should not need to be told this and to say that govenment cut backs caused this person to basically forget all of the principles of data security simply doesnt wash. Why the hell wasnt it encrypted anyway? Surely we are not putting this down to cutbacks too? Someone on site fraked up bigtime, galactic proportions. the CIO and his entire team should be packed up and out of there long since but I doubt that this has happened.

Mind you, that was in the old days of democracy when the government was held accountable and answerable to the people. Now that's been reversed, who knows what's next...
Just wait for them to spin this into a 'How the NIR (ID card database) would have prevented this loss of data in the first place' tirade, which the 'nothing to hide, nothing to fear' muppets will lap up.

Re: Twatty Labour
exactly - that's the entire basis of the system - CSs do the work but ministers are ultimately responsible.

For the Tyrants fear your might,
Don't cling so hard to your possessions,
For you have nothing if you have no rights.....
Let's do a march together sometime, Komrade....
