I have looked at the CGI website, anyone with practical experience of the process?

surprisingly not too bad. make sure you fill in your form online EXACTLY correct. Go to the Bur Dubai visa office. Get a bit confused, but the people there will help you. Pay your cash. They will deliver your passport to you.

I had zero faith it would all work - but it did.
