Spiteful retribution is not entirely unknown in some parts. Will there be any impact from these sorts of rulings?

A cloudy personal life with many women and more children than he can remember, and a history of conspiring with shady violent characters to settle scores.
But I don't think the UAE will hold that against Johnson...
Seriously though, I do remember when I was in Dubai and was always amazed by the number of people who assumed Sheikh Mo was wonderful, a virtual saint. You think people would understand it's a dictatorship, and the media is a heavily-controlled propaganda tool, but I genuinely met people who virtually worshipped the guy and wouldn't hear a bad word said against the monstrous, wife-beating, child-abducting old cretin, because apparently everyone loved him. Turns out all the people who didn't had been killed, or were in prison being beaten with rubber hoses and having their eyes gouged out.
