There is Art in Dubai!
I was in DIFC today (first time) and came across some cool art galleries, had no idea they where there so had a glance in ( as I was working so couldn't have a proper look). Are they open at the weekends as well does anyone know? Also some cool installations around there- very pleasant surprise. :-)

They also have the Opening Nights on Weekdays - I've been to a few and yes, it really is a pleasant surprise. There used to be a group on Facebook that'd inform you of everything that was going on, on a weekly basis, but I'm not sure if they're still active. It was called Culture in Dubai or something similar.

yup - there is loads of stuff here - obviously being completely ignorant about these matters I don't notice most of it. That said, there is a rather cool rusty thing under the gate at the moment.

But have you checked out the prices of those exhibits for sale? One of the galleries recently had a Monet going for over Dhs25 million. Nice if you can afford it.

There is masses of art in Dubai, although not all is good. As well as those galleries on DIFC, there are numerous independent galleries on Al Quoz and others in Bastikiya.
Art Dubai is a huge annual event, with the main focus on The Madinat, but also many other activities across town.
Lionheart, there is art available for all pockets. Even yours. There is a lot more to art than multi million pound pieces at the highest end of the market.

Lionheart- i have no intention of buying it- I just enjoy looking at it!
Millhouse- i would have come by but was working! Literally we got lost on our way out and came across the galleries! I'll be going back fro a proper gander though so you can buy me a coffee :-)
