I have been told that you can now book a taxi via RTA using an automated telephone response system where, so long as you want the taxi almost straightaway, they will come to you without your exact location having to be disclosed. How do they do that?

You've alwaysbeen able to do this, just ring up, give them your details and now all I do is call, press a few buttons and its there pretty sharpish.

no you don't tell them anything.
You dial dubai taxis then the auto voice tells you to press 2 for english then it says, " please press 1 for an immediate taxi, press 2 to order 1 for later, press 3..blah blah"
When you press 1 it says "we have your address registered and the 1st available taxi will be sent..thank you for calling ..blah blah"

Nope, when you call the call centre, they will confirm that they have your location based on the landline number you use. Simple really.

Wrong again. There is nobody speaking on the end of the phone so how do they confirm anything? The call is tracked to where you are phoning from. Its a new development so my boss tells me.
