Tats- possibly a bit much

Morning all,

Now I like teh odd one or two tats on a boy however, I've just come across these images of Rick Genest aka Zombie boy- He's suddenly hit the mainstream after featuring in one of Lady Gagas vids and has just been featured in Vogue Homme. Very strong images but I can honestly say I would run in the other direction if I saw him coming towards me!

Do you think at some point he thought- buggar what have I done- oh well may as well run with it?

amazing tattoos, but yeah... my first reaction is "ouch - needles to your eyelids?!" and my second is "it's not going to look as good when you're a flabby middle-aged man... and you can't peel them off!"

Kind of limits his work possibilities too, no? "Oh, yes, I'm looking for a job in sales... customer services? Working with children? Hospital porter? No?"

I always think people like that and others who have multiple piercings (you know - tongue, eyebrows, lip, nose - when all done together ) just smack of desperation and crave seek attention.

It's like when some who is as boring as f.cuk usually refers to themselves as being crazy, mad and 'zany'. Usually these are people with no personality.

Unlike moi.

It's not for everyone... but it's his life, why not?

i think he looks pretty cool in a weird way, although he does look better in the black and white pix than the colour ones i've seen...he's making shed loads more money like this than he did as a plain old bloke for sure, so guess he's laughing all the way to the bank...

Is it a bit girly for a man to have a godess tat on their chest?

Sad thing is, I think he would be pleasant looking...without all the ink.
Hopefully he'll make enough cash before he gets saggy and wrinkly.

I agree, if you're gonna get tatts, you may as well make it a work of art. I like it.

Jobs he will find easy to get include sewer cleaner, extra in a Zombie film and circus freak.

For some people being different is more important than living a productive and harmonious life as part of a wider society it seems.

have you seen the UV tattoos?! OMG! Completely invisible in normal light, but with UV, they (obviously) light up. Perfect! I can now be the closet rebel I've always wanted to be!

cool. I can see a practical use for this - fit a UV light in the bathroom which would save on having to put the big lights on when taking a piss in the night.

No, but sounds interesting. I wanted a vampire bat above my breast when I was a youngen, but couldn't bear the thought of what it would look like in twenty years time......can't bear the thought of standing under a UV light these days either, don't fancy seeing what lurks under my makeup.

out of interest, what do you think about belly button piercings, in particular on a 13 year old?

On an adult, fine as it's an adult decision. On a 13 year old - no way. Totally inappropriate.

Complete and utter waste of time. ( Unless it's Megan Fox. Will go well with her tats....)

Almost as stupid as wearing a ring on your toe. I mean, what the f.cuk?

The number 13 referred to age, not IQ.

As I read it, it was a two part question
- The general concept of belly button piercings
- If it's appropriate for a 13 yr old.

I don't think they are appropriate at all, let alone on a child. Why are you referring to IQ?

well if it saves us from all being grey middle aged men, in thoughts and looks then why not?
the world doesnt mourn a bank managers death but usually the ones who were different.

It maybe a reference to the undoubted intellect of one Ms Fox.

My girls don't even have their ears pierced. They ask every now and then but at least I have the excuse that they can't wear them for ballet exams and performances (though they have now found out about clear plastic studs being allowed for exams). Also fortunate that most private schools here only allow one set of ear piercings and no body or face piercings. I wouldn't allow my 13 year old to pierce her naval, apart from looking like trash, the risk of infection is too great.

Re: Tats- possibly a bit much

Tattoos and piercings are very much and adult decision i feel.
I didn't get my ears done until I was 16- my sister got hers done when we were little and screamed so much I chickened out lol.
I did have a tongue piercing when I finished school but took it out half way through university as I personally felt it wasn't professional, but i'm not adverse to piercings in general.
I also have just got my second tattoo, but again for professional reasons they are both on my feet/ankle- areas that are covered at work. But i haven't ruled out a 3rd tat in the future- they are addictive!

A lady I knew a few years ago shaved all her pubes off, completely, then had a pubic hair tattoo done in the same place.

Looked brilliant............ or so I was told :o

Not a tricky refernce if you aren't boringly literal about everything... ;)

I'm actually a bit of a fan of tattoos, but not to the point where I'd cover myself with them. I only have the one at the moment, which is in memory of a good friend and a time of my life. I have another planned dedicated to my brothers, and when I get the time and cash it will eventually happen.

aww, I occasionally wear a ring on a toe... I've kind of run out of finger-space.

Miss Kitty asked me if she could have "holes in her ears" (she's 3 and a half!) and when I said, no, she asked "can I have holes in my ears when I'm a mummy?"... yup, that'd be about right by my books!

no, not on thumbs or indexes, but the one on my pinkie got such a battering a diamond fell out. Might have to get a thumb ring, but I suspect it'll get on my nerves too much - it might clonk while I'm typing.. Toes are better.

yeah and I have pearls dissolved in vinegar for breakfast.

Seriously though, I'm gutted about that ring. It's now my gap-toothed gypsy ring, but I can't wear it lest any more fall out - they were channel set.

I was told at Uni to never use a glue gun again... ever... and never try to make a model. Basically, it looked as if the building had been overrun by giant spiders and then partially collapsed!

I've sooo got to go to Dragonmart though. I'm such a sucker for all things sparkley!
