Hahaha. Very true!

The two week visit with all in the house together over Christmas was certainly an eye opener into female behavior... Not quite the Simpsons dude for sure, but all good.

I think it's a good outlook to be honest. The other way to think about this is that in our culture a "successful marriage is one that ends in death regardless if people are happy or not".

A few self help books and lots of sleeping around certainly helped me process it.

I had wondered if you had separated but didn't want to pry.

Well done on getting to that place: sounds like you could write a self-help bestseller after all that...

If you are likely to wear it outside of the UK, go for a lightweight version as better to be cooler than too hot. It needs to be good fabric to hang right and must be well lined.

The best colour depends on your colouring. Most men however will look good in dark blue and dark grey and they are very adaptable. You can brighten up your look with a shirt (and a tie) if you wish.

If you are getting it made, you need to insist that they leave in a decent seam everywhere in case it needs to be let out at a later date. ;)

If you think you may wear it a bit then it can be worthwhile to get two pairs of trousers to one jacket. Jackets are often taken off and have less wear so you'll lengthen the life of the whole set up if you rotate the trousers.

I know you said you despise suits but they can look super smart if they really fit well and the wearer is comfortable in it. Personally I think ties are ridiculous, just pointless nooses, but each to their own. :)

Sigh, another way in which I must be a constant source of disappointment...
