Suits

Re: Suits
If you're in reasonable shape..One button on the jacket and a ticket pocket.
Recently told 110 from a decent mill is better and easier to look after than 120/140. No idea if that's true.
I've about 5 suits. All black apart from one dark blue. If im honest the blue is nicer.
I have a wedding to go to next month (mine) - will be rocking cream pants and a blue jacket if the tailor ever makes it.

Re: Suits
As someone who will never marry yet comes from a happy home with parents rapidly approaching their 45th anniversary, I do wonder what makes a marriage a success.
If marriage #1 ended in divorce, what propels you towards marriage #2? Is it a similar type of woman or someone very different?

As for your question:
Firstly, you need to stop viewing divorce as a negative thing. My first marriage was very successful.
Secondly, Life is for living and everyone is different. I expect the second one to be no less successful, and I hope it to be more so.

Nah. Just not the marrying sort. Too old for it now, I think.
I don't mean to nitpick but people generally assume divorce to mean a failed marriage so it's hard to square up the concept of a successful marriage and a divorce.
But I won't pry any more. Really none of my business and you know I can hardly judge

You could marry in the USA.

Re: Suits
Single breasted and a classic cut. Do not scrimp on the fabric. I can spot cheap suits and fabric a mile off. Take Bahtatboy's advice about scrunching it in your hand. I must have annoyed hundreds of shop assistants doing that over the years!
If you are likely to wear it outside of the UK, go for a lightweight version as better to be cooler than too hot. It needs to be good fabric to hang right and must be well lined.
The best colour depends on your colouring. Most men however will look good in dark blue and dark grey and they are very adaptable. You can brighten up your look with a shirt (and a tie) if you wish.
If you are getting it made, you need to insist that they leave in a decent seam everywhere in case it needs to be let out at a later date.
If you think you may wear it a bit then it can be worthwhile to get two pairs of trousers to one jacket. Jackets are often taken off and have less wear so you'll lengthen the life of the whole set up if you rotate the trousers.
I know you said you despise suits but they can look super smart if they really fit well and the wearer is comfortable in it. Personally I think ties are ridiculous, just pointless nooses, but each to their own.

On most standard measures marriage 1, was successful: produced a great child, we are good parents, we gathered lots of assets, we will both have long-term comfortable lives, we traveled loads, developed good skills, and lived in a couple of countries. Many successful marriages didn't achieve half of that.
The good times had to end (no need to go into those details), but when you look back you can choose to focus on the good or the bad. I choose to focus on the good. So yes, it was successful. We even managed to salvage a decent friendship - after all, I'm going to have to deal with her for the rest of my life one way or another.
As for the second one, she's awesome and I'm excited for the future.
1 & 2 also get on pretty well.
