Amd there's more....

In a recent interview Steve Irwin (who was wearing his Ray Bans !) was asked what his favourite TV programme was. "Thunderbirds", he replied,
"But Stingray will always have a special place in my heart."

Boom boom !

Re: Steve Irwin

I hated Steve Irwin when I first saw him on tv, he really annoyed me. Then about 11 years ago, I moved to Queensland and he started regularly appearing on "The Panel" (comedy current affairs/panel type show) and I realised that he really was the person he portrayed on his tv shows..... a passionate, funny, lovable australian boy with a heart of gold who really cared for everyone and everything around him. I was fortunate enough to see him at his zoo shortly before he died.

I still remember that day two years ago......I'd just picked up the kids from school and we were standing at ballet in the foyer. One mum walked in and asked me who'd died....I had no idea what she was talking about and another mum said it was Steve Irwin.....I didn't believe her at first - then slowly everyone started to filter into ballet with long faces asking each other if they'd heard the news. I remember getting goosebumps and a strange silence fell over the place. All the kids were even standing around silently, some people were crying. The silence was broken every now and then by the sound of a mobile phone, when the news filtered through to the Brisbane CBD and all the dad's started phoning to ask whether it was true.

Most Queenslanders felt that day like a member of their own family had died. If you're not from Queensland, you may think that I'm being melodramatic, but Steve Irwin was a Queensland icon and 99% of us loved him dearly.

Bindy and Terri on the other hand are another story................
