Stereotypical Physical Traits by Profession
Just saw in another thread.
"hairy arsed builder" Speaking as someone in the construction industry I'm not aware of a higher density of hair follicles per square centimeter of arse skin than the general population. "tight arsed" accountant "tough like a jockey's bollocks" |

Pointy 'shoed'? That covers a lot.

Wouldn't call many of our consultancy lot 'hairy arsed'. Which is a shame because they're often more fun. |

The Moneysupermarket ad is probably a good example of stereotypes (hairy overweight builders and balding, glass wearing businessmen)

And to accompany the OP:
Automotive choices by profession? I can already envision some of you unable to resist mentioning hairdressers and a certain landrover product ;) |

Re: Stereotypical Physical Traits by Profession
Engineers and Golf GTIs.
Literally zero imagination. Good cars but I would get pretty much anything else not to be part of the other 20 odd GTIs in the car park. |

:hand: to all you Golf haters :p
I've had both the GTi and the R....loved both cars......although the R is in a different league to the GTi....but i wouldn't go back to having either of these again |

Exactly! And really fast! One of the boys here replaced his older GTI with a Megane R26.... had it about 6 months before he sold it as it scared him. Golfs are good but they are by no means a great drivers car. They look after you too much. This guy got a little sqiffy in the Megane and that was it. Nae balls. He went straight out and bought the Golf R.
Most roads have speed cameras every 2 miles. Most roads are straight. Most roads have traffic lights or speed bumps. Got shot down in the office for this but nobody could tell me where there are 'fun' roads to enjoy such a car regularly and easily. (EG: My old commute was through the New Forest...A roads / B roads, glorious, even in a diesel A3). |

err there are plenty of stretches of road where you can put your foot down.....even on SZR ....but of course you need to know the distances between the cameras.....there's a stretch on SZR between two cameras where almost every day (driving to the office) i clock up to 160-180...granted it doesn't last that long coz then next camera approaches
Straight road and driving fast is very....American. It's shouty and high speed but a Golf GTI type (et al) is going to be more fun on a windy (Wiggly not blowy) road. |

Any suggestions what to get next to avoid the mid life tag! |

well that sums me up pretty well. albeit it's the R32 rather than the GTi.
Any suggestions what to get next to avoid the mid life tag! Anyway. R32 is better so you win on that front? |

Re: Stereotypical Physical Traits by Profession
Merc GLA250 is a decent compromise. Quite sporty but not too 'mid-lifey'. The GLA45 is a different thing again though. A so-called 'crossover'??? that can hit the scramble to 100km/h in around 4.5 seconds from a 2 litre 4 banger is no dog. Fun if you can spec the optional launch control as well !

On the topic of headlights, I think fog lights should be banned on cars here. |

Re: Stereotypical Physical Traits by Profession
For me, the sterotypes are:
Builder - tattoos, overweight with muscles - driving a van and a previa for the weekends Estate / Recruitment Agent - skinny tie, premiership footballer haircut - driving a hot hatch Banker - Fat, red faced, expensive ill fitting suit - driving a 2 seater sports car or 4x4, both never used to their full extent. Salesrep - stinking of cheap aftershave, cheap suits - driving company BMW, or Cavalier |
Re: Stereotypical Physical Traits by Profession
America is very unique in that it is the only country where you have regular Joe drive pickup trucks, even though they don't need it. Seems like the UAE is also a good candidate for people to drive pickups, considering all the recreational options available there. Full size pickups can be quite luxurious, on par with luxury cars.
