Default Sri Lanka

It's my last day at work today, got a few things on the go but decided rather than to hang around and spend loads of money at christmas and cabs and all that shit I'm going to go on holiday

So off to Sri Lanka in a few weeks for 16 days,

Going to Galle and also Columbo,

I've never been so can anyone recommend places to go, things to see, what I should definately do when I'm over there?

Cheers all....

Bear in mind that the infrastructure isn't great so it takes way longer than you think to get anywhere. It's a days drive from Columbo to Galle.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and surrounding area is great. Mind you I was there about 8 years ago.

It's a beautiful country. In early December you can expect some heavy rain in many areas, but the thunderstorms can be spectacular.

Ignore commander's comment; the food was great and in two weeks I wasn't ill once. Seems his default setting these days is negative twat

We have just booked Xmas Day Lunch and New Years Eve Dinner/Disco at the Irish Village. Hurry folks before they sell out, like last year.

if you can make it to here (we hired a driver from our hotel just north of Colombo) then go - it's truly spectacular:

We were at a wedding in September in Galle, stayed at the fortress, nice hotel. There are some good beach bars not far from there, think one was called Crazy Banana. Has the stag night there, 10 of us got wasted for about 15 quid each (included food). Go for the beach bars, basic but more atmosphere than the hotels.
The fort in Galle was shite.
