Spinney's downtown Kabul
Anyone else noticed it?
On the Sky news loop on the current disorder on Kabul, a few seconds in there's clearly a Spinney's sign & logo in the background
I wonder what you can buy there on the weekly shop?

Yes! There was a photo on the CNN website earlier. Can't find it now. I too was convinced it was a spinneys but looking on their website it doesn't mention a branch in the 'gan.

It's the old logo isn't it?
Perhaps some enterprising Afghan bought up all of the old stuff when one of their shops was being refurbed and took it upon himself to engage in a little scam enterprise?

Well, this confused me to. When I saw it earlier I looked on the net and the logos were different - I then convinced myself I was wrong. However, I've just been to Spinneys doing the shopping and it is definitely the same logo as presented at the motorcity branch.

Somebody who is from Kabul told me that it is quite expensive there. So, Spinney's is right on target.

As a former Kabul resident I can confirm that there is indeed a Spinneys in Kabul but I think it was just a bit of brand stealing....quite coomon in Kabul, we also had KFC (Kabul Fried Chicken) which was as identical as you can get to the Kentucky version, the shareholdings were entirely different of course!
