Well, I thought it was to represent the round stone that covered the entrance to Jesus' grave. That's why on Easter Sunday we used to roll painted eggs down a hill ?

Total marketing scam again like Valentines Day, have you seen the price of the easter eggs here, 3 times the price of Europe. Madness, but of course we will buy for our kids....

Christians (well, the Romans back in the day) hijacked another pagan festival - this time the spring fertility one. Probably. Bit like Christmas and trees.

Also there is the symbolism of the Easter Bunny - which commemorates the Virgin Mary's fondness for her rabbit.....

Don't be so gullible, Spugsy. Its got nothing to do with rolling stones.
Easter eggs are specially decorated eggs given to celebrate the Easter holiday or springtime. The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in Pagan celebrations of spring and was adopted by early Christians as a symbol of the rebirth of Jesus after the crucifction.
Bought six choco eggs today, none costing more than Dhs10...one included two remarkable model chickens for the kiddies.
