With just hours to go, I was wondering if the good people of the Bored, with experience of the following situation, could give me some tips on surviving it...

I'll ask the Mrs she is 40 today. It hit me in May and wasn't too bad, got very drunk and then felt like shite all day Friday much like a normal Thursday really.

For some, it is a time to change jobs and get out of a feeling of being in a rut or the feeling that there must be more to life than this. Often, a time of mid-life crisis manifested in a change of career, but still keeping the same partner, though.

Can't explain why - perhaps it's the combination of still being (relatively) young, but with quite a lot of life's experiences behind you.
You will also find you have the self-confidence to try things that might have seemed unlikely in earlier years, while still being young enough to enjoy them.
