Following on from Ethos85's honeymoon thread, what do you consider to be the secret to a happy relationship?

Englishmum says 'space. My suggestion is separate bathrooms.

What do you suggest?

Talking....we were looking for a film to watch the other night when we were staying in (thursday). Decided it would be better to sit at the table and play cards and chat and have a laugh than just sit staring at the idiot lantern.

Space....being out for 3 nights a week between us is good, we appreciate each other more when we see each other.

Making time for each other....see first point, we both agreed we'd stay in and have an evening together that wasn't a school night, wasn't a boozy one and was just to chill and enjoy each others company.

Washing bin without a lid. I'm not ****ing pulling a drawer out. I'm way too much of a big time charlie to do that.

Sharing chores....apart from the above, which I'm just a nightmare for, I ALWAYS help with everything - washing up, washing, hanging it out, cleaning, cooking, everything.

Fancy the person you are with, I've found it easy to get involved with people in the past i'm fond of, make me laugh, and are on a similar level to me but in the end it won't work because I actually don't fancy them.

Failing that, communication and giving each other space and creating quality time for one another. The wife has 2 days off, one is for the two of us and we always go out somewhere nice. The other night we will be involved with others.

I guess there are no standard secrets - different things work with different partners
