RIP
One of the great comedy actors.............
"It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day."
"Goodyear?"
"No, the worst..."

RIP
The Naked Gun movies will always be fondly remembered . I think it was 2.5 or 2 that I saw after the last day of school , at the theatre in downtown Ealing.
Sure reminds one of getting older and time flying when entertainers from one's childhood pass away.

Re: RIP
I used to love 'Police Squad' - they only made a few episodes but somehow it was often on late at night on returning from the pub and it was brilliant.
If you like the humour in Airplane you'd love it - particularly liked the end credits where the characters had to freeze while the credits rolled, usually in some obscure position which was difficult to hold.
Youtube it if you're not familiar with it.
Brilliant - RIP Leslie.

I grew up with Airplane - Leslie was almost a part of the family. He'll be sorely missed.

Re: RIP
It was Police Squad that gave life to the Naked Gun films, as he was playing the same character - Frank Drebbin.
Airplane was such a great film - still love watching it today:
Rumack: You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Re: RIP
Raging Bull was a good film though, to be fair, out and out comedy's rarely do well at the Oscars.
More quotes from Airplane:
--
[as the plane prepares to take off]
Lady: Nervous?
Ted Striker: Yes.
Lady: First time?
Ted Striker: No, I've been nervous lots of times.
--
Elaine Dickinson: You got a letter from headquarters this morning.
Ted Striker: What is it?
Elaine Dickinson: It's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important.
--
Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
Captain Oveur: I can't tell.
Rumack: You can tell me. I'm a doctor.
Captain Oveur: No. I mean I'm just not sure.
Rumack: Well, can't you take a guess?
Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack: You can't take a guess for another two hours?
