Hmmnn..my company declared first three days of Eid as days off, so either Thursday or Sunday, still to be decided. Why can't these people use what is now, presumably, extremely accurate astronomical data rather than a couple of old boys' eyesight??

We (government) have just been told that we will be closed from 8th to 12 or 13 (depending on if Eid falls on the 9th or 10th). We take no chances here.

Which is a real bastard, my last day at work is tomorrow, whereas if I left here on the 12th I would have gained another weeks worth of pay.

Good question ctfc, but the only answer I get is something about tradition. It's damn hard to run a business when you don't know when people are going to be working or not.

My company works with financial institutions in the UAE and just got a message from the finance ministry that banks and stock markets will be closed Thursday until Shawwal 3 which would indicate Thursday and Sunday off

Re: Ramadan then

My company (in Saudi) announced last week that we're off from Thursday (9th) and back in work on Tuesday (14th). I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off which means I get 9 days off in total.

Much better than last year when they didn't announce until on the last working day before the hols which obviously p*ssed off quite a few people.
