Re: Ramadan Kareem !
I actually was in a rush when I wrote the previous post. I should have said 'wrong desires'. Not all desires are bad in the eyes of Islam. For example, sex is viewed as a good act if it was done in the rightful environment, which is marriage. There is a saying by the prophet of Islam to the effect that, every time a man makes love to his wife both of them will be rewarded by God for that act just in the same way they would get a sin if they had done outside marriage. I believe this concept in Christanity is quite different because in Christanity the act of sex in general is looked upon as dirty

This temporary marriage is just a cover for prostitution.
Yeah it's easy to find some randy misogynist who says it's perfectly OK. Just try asking him if his sister's up for it then.
The double standard proves that it's not really OK, it's just a convenient excuse to fornicate with a thin veneer of legality. About as valid as selling pardons was in Chaucer's time.

No it is not. The meaning of Adultery in Islam is having sex outside a committed and regulated relationship.
It is true in Islam a man is allowed to have 4 wives under certain rules and regulations (the agreement of the wife if she had already stipulated this condition in her marriage contract, for example). That does not necessalry mean that Islam encourages or discourages it; It simply means that Islam does not forbid it. The western rule also does not forbid a man from having multiple mistresses so long as his wife agrees. It really is a question of what is allowed and what is not. The only difference I could see between the Islamic rule and the western counterpart in this regard, is that in Islam a woman is not allowed to have more than one partner ( husband) but in the western rule she is actually allowed.

Islam allows divorce. Roman Catholicism prohibits divorce.
I'd love to know which Christian sect "actually allow"s a woman to have more than one husband

Christianity does forbid adultery which is defined as sex outside of monogamous marriage, whether or not the wife agrees. I presume it is Christianity you are talking about when you say "western rule"? Rather than say Hinduism / Bhuddism / Islam / Atheism that are also followed in "western" countries? (and where does Australia in the "east" occur?).

If that's your definition of sexism then Mother nature is the most notorious sexist system. It has made men biologically polygamous while women monogamous (generally speaking). It has made the human female suffer 9 months of agonizing hardship before enduring the agony of child birth, while the male can be ready to fertilize another females. These are the unfortunate facts of how the human body is made. We can chose to ignore nature and pretend to be living some where else, but we will be only fooling ourselves.

Glad you finally admit to the nature of Islam. Whew, and here I was thinking that you would be obfuscating endlessly.

And by extending (or trying to unravel) your twisted logic, Islam allows husbands to be polygamous because, while a wife is pregnant and therefore unable to conceive, he needs to impregnate and therefore needs another wife or wives. If that's what you're getting at (not that I expect for one second a straight answer from you), the logical extensions are going to be the subject of interesting debate.
