The DIFC is an offshore financial centre. It has (in theory) nothing to do with Dubai - and operates its own legal system and courts.

As the company is breaking the law by not offering shorter working hours to everyone, you should report it to the Ministry of Labour
Why not report your employer to the Ministry of Labour? Will do your career out here the world of good.

our business has nothing to do with this part of the world either so thats why we expect to work pretty much our normal hours Mon-Fri.

In the UK scientific bodies that advise the government are already saying sugars (all sugars, including natural honey and fruits) should not make up more than 10% of our daily diet.

Just google things like 'sugar debate' or 'government debates sugar'. We're talking about it. I can't see instant change but like booze and fags it will happen as the costs are just too high for diabetes and cancer and all the other things too much sugar is causing.

As for replacing with another poison - 100 years ago we put lead in everything and used tasty preservatives like formaldehyde and borax. Why worry about the next one before we have eliminated the current problems? We can't fix everything all at once.

Thing is, how many big businesses have sugar as a key ingredient...I'm sure they lobby hard like booze/tobacco firms. Off the top of my head I'm sure the likes of Coca Cola, Pepsi, McDonalds (I'm sure that shit is rammed with sugar) etc etc etc?

Search online, I think it's on You Tube. The Men Who Made Us Fat. 3 parts I recall. Worth a look for anyone who takes their diet seriously.

I can't wait to break my fast. I've got my eyes on a KFC family bucket, extra coleslaw and a large coke.

Why stop at just one bucket? And surely you need some syrup-drowned arabic sweets to finish the meal off.

Just heard two people in our office having a heated discussion on cleaning your teeth before work, haraam or halal.

My view is that if they come in with stinking breath it's an HR issue.

I'm going to test the patience, willpower and resolve of my guy today. Got a bacon and cheddar sarnie in my bag. It's hot, fresh and waiting to be demolished. Gonna see if he flinches when I get it out to eat.

Then I'll feel bad and go smash it into my big gob in the kitchen.
