hmmmmmmm what an interesting post........ im not sure which way i sway on this, i suppose i have nothing against prostitutes however......
If it was made legal, how would it stop the nutters? No man or woman is going to want their details kept on record for visiting a prostitute, there would be no way to track and trace someone so how it is going to be safe.
There are still alot of prostitutes who would possibly be ashamed of their profession and there would be even more people who would disagree with their profession....
I dont think i would like to see their profession advertised in the local yellow pages.....
I dont consider myself 'backward' but im not sure how making it legal would make it any better.

It's a no brainer. Prostitution is going to happen weather we like it or not and will not go away until someone makes biological robots to replace prostitutes! Surely if the government steps in we can at least reduce the crime and horrors some of these women are exposed to? It would also reduce the number of women who are forced into it.
Same applies with some drugs too...legalise them and cut the income of some truly nasty drug dealers who contribute to street crime daily.

No but if they are adults I can't really do much about their chose profession can I? More likely is people would only do it to get through college or uni or get out of debt.
I know dancers who are putting themselves through Uni and the crap they get is unreal. Could you imagine what would happen if they legalised prosititution!

Really good looking girls don't need to sleep with men for money - they can extract it simply by waving their happy parts at them lol. I expect the one's who do sleep with me do so for extra money - they already earn more than most.

Sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. How many legally working prostitute do get murdered in Amsterdam? I am guessing that its much less than the number of illegally working prostitutes. Where is MH when you want a reasoned and logical argument? My view is that by legalising the industry, you can also improve health and safety by insisting on monthly STD check-ups and ensuring that condoms are used. Most massage parlours in the UK and indeed over here are nothing more than glorified brothels anyway.

Anywhere in the world where there is female or male prostitution there are criminal elements involved. Also in Dubai. In Amsterdam the government is shutting down large parts of the public industry. The five star hotels have databases full of them, keeping them out of the guest rooms, at least in theory. If you think of it as a job, which in reality it is, there's nothing wrong with it. I used to drive through the "for females" section as a short cut home. Men that visit these places might be seen as dirty. But looking around? Either there are a hell of a lot of single woman, or a hell of a lot of married men being cheated on so called business trips. But who am I to judge? I've spoken to (legal) woman in this business. €15.000 to €20.000 earnings per month is nothing in the five star or members only clubs. If you know your way around in Amsterdam? The old Jap Jum or Banana Club Bar was / is for amateurs. There are private clubs that would make the Burj Al Arab look like an amateur place, so it's logical the underworld gets attracted. And as rumors state? The one and only Kay Parker, uncrowned Queen of Porn seems to be a major share holder in the most elite of clubs. Or to quote Playboys owner? "The best Dutch investment a man can ever make... A beautiful female lying naked on her back on 100% silk sheets... Add to that caviar, champagne and not a five but seven star surroundings and service, and you've entered the realm of the true elite. " Gives you a vague idea of the real amount of money involved in the Amsterdam "Adult Industry". Oooo yes... And all major credit card companies will book it as a tax deductable "religious contribution".
