Proposition
I'm fairly sure I was propositioned yesterday walking to Jarir in the afternoon, but this being Saudi I'm not totally sure what it was all about.
So I was walking down the road and a car stops by me at a roundabout, I keep walking and a little bit up the road the car stops again. Eventually a little bit further on, the car stops and the driver starts talking to me.
On the whole I find Saudis fairly friendly( the ones that speak to strangers anyway), so a strange man stopping to have a chat isn't that unusual, but anyway the conversation went something like this:
Him: Hi, how are you?
Me: Good thanks.
Him: Where you from?
Me: The UK.
Him: Oh nice, so do you like Riyadh?
Me: Yeah, it's good thanks.
Him: So I was thinking you know, if you want to meet me sometime and go for coffee, we can meet up and have a chat, maybe go for a massage or something.
Me: Hmmmm, sounds good.
Him: Okay, here's my card, just give me a call.
Now strangers asking you to go and drink coffee isn't that unusual, that's happened quite a few times, but what got me was the massage bit. That is a first. So was he propositioning me or is there some dodgy massage parlour I don't know about? I'd rather it was the latter! Anybody else got experience of this?

Re: Proposition
Experience of being propositioned in KSA by Saudi men? Yes, a few times though not on the street, sometimes in supermarkets, once in a barbers and a couple of times in work.
Experience of going to a massage parlour with a Saudi man? No

May I just point out that it would be a far more dangerous situation had the 'proposition-er' been a female....

Re: Proposition
Did have two women in a car start chatting to me one day outside a hospital. They offered me a lift too. Don't think anything was on the cards there though. Only seen Saudi women out of their abayas once in two years. Living on the edge!

Ha ha - I'm in central Switzerland and obviously at this time of year many Arabs come to Europe to escape the heat. Yesterday I was shopping in Zug (a town halfway between Zurich and Lucerne) and there were some Arab families walking around and the women wearing their black abayas....well you should have seen the Swiss women just stopping and staring at them like they had arrived from another planet (the Swissies are generally very conservative, especially when not living in the cities of Geneva and Zurich....they actually stopped in their tracks, wide-eyed with their mouths open) lol!

Go for it.
Worst that can happen is you get raped/attacked/killed/noshed off.
Best that can happen is you get a new pal.
