So last night I had to stay in a hotel and audit it for a friend. After auditing the restaurant and a bottle of vino I audited one of the bars and another bottle of vino before finally auditing my room with a bottle of vino....

I had to check the Internet so whilst surfing around I ended up on a adult orientated website, which was *Allowed*.

I then tried several others (For research) all of them *Allowed*, even high risk searches 'Arab teen gangbang' etc all allowed.

My showroom is 500 yards up the road, using the same tinterweb and laptop even a search for bald pussy (I was looking for a Sphynx Cat) or Small Booby (I have a fascination with sea birds) brings up the *Not Allowed* internet police warning.

Is this something the hotel facilitates (Could be a USP) or is there something I don't know?

Imagine the scenario, Good local man books a night there with the wife and decides to have a quick surf on the tinternet to read the online quran. By complete accident he ends up looking at the un-banned rate my shaved goat just as his wife walks into the room in her new burkhini.

That would be front page 7 days ME and the hotel (Who's fault it obviously is) closed.

I don't know if the internet is government blocked in Qatar, but if so you need a VPN or proxy server to get around this. Maybe the hotel does this, but its unlikely.
Otherwise if its not censored perhaps your workplace has a filter to stop porn etc

Nope, I set it all up here. No filters. Its the same as in the UAE, even some very innocent sites are banned.

In the interests of furthering mankind's knowledge of such matters, I have conducted similar experiments. Recently, I was surprised to discover that sites available in Egypt are blocked in Turkey. Equally, it's so censored in Kuwait I don't know why they even bother running the submarine cables to the country - hardly seems worth the effort.

Are the thumbnails not even visible in Kuwait?? I find with an iphone you can actually expand the simple thumbnail to fill the whole screen.
