POLITE REQUEST

Why are all posts related to the death of Margaret (Barnoness) Thatcher being moved? That is a very simple question, however, I expect a very complicated answer, or no answer at all! - Over to you Sue!

Just a guess, but they are likely to / have already got a bit 'heated'. :)

Mmmm, 'Vague Possibilities' from a Moderator? What have you been told to say? - Or can anyone give a straight answer to the question?

Have a read of what it says on the outside of the 'Take it Outside' forum "Please keep all political, religious and other controversial topics in here."

Surely that rule would cease all conversation? - Especially messages relating (negatively) to Islam, etc. I didn't see that one in the BE Book Of Rules! What is the Policy? - Make it up as you go along, for fear of Litigation? - Jeez!

Re: POLITE REQUEST

It's not a rule but it is what's happening, as this is a Brit expat site there will undoubtedly have been a lot of threads. Now they're all in one place.

Your response speaks volumes! A British Expatriate Site run by Americans! - You fell for that one of course?

Maybe we don't want to talk to someone in Canada about it?? Why shift a thread out of our forum? So now the rest of BE are commenting on it and we are not. Well Done Mike.

No, based upon Political Practice! Why did you move my Thread here? - Note the title of the Thread!

Another thread moved...are you trying to turn people away from this site?

I'm struggling to see how you apply the rules, it certainly does not look consistent.

Personally, I can't be arsed to go into the other discussion forums.

We should be able to talk about who we want Mike. It is not up to you to decide..............People are leaving here in droves, if you have not noticed and many a regular not bothering and it is all because of you over moderating and deciding what is best. It worked perfectly well before you came along.

You are ruining it, time to realise its a forum and you are not back in the RAF.

Actually, as a moderator, it is within my remit to decide.

No it didn't because people were being personally insulted left right and centre. Just because the rules are now being applied isn't an excuse for you throwing your toys out of the cot.

I retired from the RAF in 2000 and have been working in the same profession (ATC as opposed to dealer of death from the skies) since then, so not sure of the relevance to 2013.

If you or anyone else has an issue with how I moderate, or how any of the moderators operate, then please take it up with Sue, she'll love to hear from you.

You make the rules up as you go along. (Think we proved that with the name of the dodgy agent in Doha) Leave posts that are written in this forum, in this forum where they were wanted not where they are not.

If you want to feel self important go delete the spam from Devonte you seem to have missed all over the other forum.

You seem to take any personal criticism of anyone as a personal attack or insult, when really its just a disagreement or a bit of heated discussion. I really don't see the point of stopping that as it just curbs healthy debate.

You have to make allowances for us who are not articulate enough to diasagree with someone without telling them they are being a wanker. :p

..........

So it's not against the rules to personally insult people left, right and centre- in the TIO forum-because that is what happens in there.
Any decent debate spirals into a slanging match featuring the usual suspects.

The thread in question wasn"t even contentious, did you receive any complaints about it?
Or was it moved on the subjective judgement of a moderator?

There are plenty other fora out there engaged in mind numbing discourse @
handbags, hairdo's and school spats, please, don't turn this one into the likes
of them.

What originally happened is that there were posts on The Lounge obit thread, but as there were likely to be many posts, and they could, and are, controversial, then JG moved those posts to TIO in the general section. Many of the country specific sections still have threads in their own forums, csrtainly the Barbie, in the OZ forum does, as does the Canada forum, The Maple Leaf. I don't think there was any admin decision that meant all threads about her had to be moved.

Nothing to talk about? Right, because no one has anything to say about anything that has happened in the past. And none of it is ever relevant to the present day?

You must be kidding...

Just to clarify something, it wasn't mikewot who moved the thread, so please don't shoot the messenger. ;)

I'm going to see if we can move it back for you but I've got a feeling that it may have been merged with another thread so it may not be possible.

Please bear with me while I figure it out.

Thanks

I was able to rescue this thread and have moved it back. (Unfortunately the other thread has been merged with one already running in TIO.)

However the same site rules apply as they always do, no inappropriate comments, personal attacks etc ... or else I'll move it to TIO ... or worse I'll close it ;) :D

Not a big fan of history when you were at school I take it?

Did you also think that music was "just noise" and swimming "getting wet for no reason" etc etc? ;)
