But some years here and I guess in the rest of the world blood type diets were quite fashionable. A good friend of ours swore by then and said she felt so much better keeping to the diet matching her blood type!

Blood type is specified by some reasonably archaic genes - you share more genetic information on this bit of your makeup with a chimp of the same blood than a human in a different blood group. Genes can have multiple effects so some aspects of this are not entirely impossible per se. The Japanese stuff is almost certainly bullshit however.

My best mate here strangely has the same blood type, though it probably has an alcohol count larger than the red blood cells......

I just googled it, Seems I can only give blood to an AB but receive it from anyone. No need for me to worry then

Nope. AB positive can receive any blood type. They are called the universal recipient.

I have a better one. The world is divided on rice eaters and wheat eaters. Rice eaters are numerous because a filed of rice feeds more heads than a field of wheat. At the same time rice eaters are at a disadvantage from technology and society development perspective as rice demands more time and labour. For the same reasons rice eaters tend towards a totalitarian societies because rice growing requires organised effort of pretty much an entire village and leaves little spare time. Wheat growing on the other hand feeds less heads per field but leaves more spare time to develop technology and society.
