PC or MAC. I thought I would never go Mac but.......
Just curious but how many of you use Mac vs PC and those that use PC, did you ever try a Mac??
I have been an IT geek all my life and always used PC/Windows etc.
Due to my photography, I recently bought a Mac Air as its purported to be wayyyyyy better for photo processing. I gotta say its a revelation!!! I have never used such a fast, stable and easy to use laptop.
Took it out of the box and had it just the way I wanted it (software, network, connected to my storage etc in minutes). The gesturing took a day to fully learn and now I have trouble doing things on my work PC!
I wish that I had discovered Mac years ago :-)
My geeky sons tell me that the only thing it won't do as well as a PC is gaming which does not worry me as I don't play computer games.

Personal- I have a shiny new Macbook air and I love it- so light its so easy to travel with. I would never go back to PC personally. Workwise we're still on PC's much to my teams frustration!

Vote number three for a Macbook Air here, unfortunately I use a PC at work - as they wont change, so have to lug my Dell around with me (leave MBA at home) and my iPad of course.

Yep, I also have an iPad (which originally got me into the Apple way of thinking). If only the Telcos here would offer a reasonable roaming package on iPhones I would go all the way and ditch my BB.

Do the desktop Macs still only have one button on the mouse?

I like you always used a PC, but I bought a Macbook Pro about 2 years ago and now I would never buy another PC. It still works as well as the day I bought it and has never caused any problems. As someone else has already said its also great when travelling. Thinking about an iMac next.
I also have an iPhone which is great, but don't really have a need for an iPad so have not bought one.

I have the Magic Mouse which has NO buttons and neither does the mouse pad on the laptop. Thats the great thing about Mac, its all gestures. Swipe two fingers left, three fingers etc. A huge amount of thought and design has been into the User interface.

I have a love/hate relationship with my MacBookPro, iPad, and iPhone. The hardware is very good and lasts loads longer than PC equivalents, but I don't like iOS and OSX. Awful, buggy and not as fast as it could be. Yes, you can do loads more by using the terminal, but why should I have to resort to that. I'm not saying Windows is much better by the way, although they have got the user experience bit nailed with Windows7 and 8 promises to be even better.
Microsoft Office on a Mac is pure muck. They intentionally made it 32 bit only, so Excel is a lot less powerful than in Windows. Outlook is a joke! Finally there is no Visio and no Project! Why??
Only solution is to run Parallels (yes it is miles better than VMware Fusion) so that you can run Windows applications seamlessly on your Mac, but to get this to work properly be prepared to buy higher specifications as you will effectively be running Windows and OSX at the same time...
Despite all my misgivings about Mac, I will buy a new MacBookPro soon though.

Anyway. I'm jealous mate. I've got a windows laptop and iphone and ipad.
I love the Apple stuff. It's just mind blowingly expensive and whilst I only use my laptop for streaming via VizzlePizzleNizzle or my HDD and occasionally surfing the net, I can't justify the price.
Jealous.

As TheShed said, the mouse that comes with it doesn't have a button (well, it does, just the whole top of the mouse clicks down).
You can use two-button mice (plug and play), and you can configure the Mac mice to work as two button mice (click on the left hand side for left click, right hand side for right click).
Say what fool?
I couldn't disagree more. If anything OSX and iOS are far superior to Windows. Not because they're necessarily coded better. It's just without the infinite amount of hardware combinations to worry about, Apple can focus on making sure it works perfectly on its various configurations.
I'll give you the point about Office for Mac. It is atrocious, but that's Microsoft's fault; not Apple's.
I first started using Macs in 2007. Within a week, I was getting frustrated with how limited and hackeyed the Windows user interface was. No exposé, no equivalent of CMD+Space for opening programs quickly.
I ended up buying my first Mac (a MacBook Pro) in April 2008. Since then, I've bought two more. An 11-inch MacBook Air for when I was travelling and on press trips, and an iMac for home use.
I just sold my first Mac for £400 more than four years on (bought for £1600). Show me a PC that retains its value that well. And after clearing it, wiping and reinstalling MacOSX, it ran like new.
I currently use the MacBook Air hooked up to my TV when I'm not in the office for netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, 4OD etc, while the iMac has Windows 7 installed on it too so I can play games.

Once you go Mac you never go back...
The differences between Macs & PC is far less than they were, but a Mac is better for image related work.

My first Apple was a Macintosh SE/30 bought by my dad in 1989 for a small fortune (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_SE/30) so you could say I've had a few years of Mac experience (although I did use Windows almost exclusively for about 10 years between 95-05 when Apple was seriously shit)

Well that's exactly what I mean. It should be even better!! It is far from as good as it could be (and in my opinion should be due to the limited hardware). Sorry mate. Didn't realise you were a fanboi..
I was making a point about a piece of software in use by most people on a daily basis which unfortunately makes me want to puke every time I have to use it. I don't particularly care who's fault it is...
