Isn't it more likely that the figures he quoted are supposed to be US dollars, and not dirhams?

Not read through the thread, but selling 33% for $500 million, hats off to him.
Can anyone on here tell me they wouldn't the same?

Now you tell me the company has the kid's education first and foremost.

The problem with a lot of schools in Dubai - school fees equivalent to top private schools in other countries, but inexperienced teachers and managed by businessmen instead of educators. It's no good having fantastic educational, sporting and cultural facilities if you have no-one that can actually facilitate them properly.
I remember paying the fees to Raffles when we first arrived in Dubai, then they lost the records so wouldn't let me kids into class on orientation day, finally found the records, let the kids into class for the last 10 minutes of orientation day (sat in the foyer for hours) only to be told that the kids were supposed to be at the other campus (we didn't even know there was another campus and that it was unfinished!).

So which job would require him to be a bigger tool?
The editor of The National, the Abu Dhabi-based daily newspaper, is to leave his role to join GEMS Education as communications chief.
Hassan M Fattah, the former New York Times correspondent, is understood to be joining the Dubai-based education provider as its new communications director.
Fattah was originally deputy to Martin Newland, the launch editor who used to be in charge of the UK's Telegraph. He became editor in 2009 when Newland moved "upstairs" in the role of editorial director.
Speculation that Fattah was leaving The National, which is owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, has been circulating for weeks.
