Whats with the two kisses now when you greet a woman ?

I thought it was just two mwah mwahs without actual physical contact (so you don't smudge their make-up)

even more complicated when you are in France.
if I remember correctly when i lived in Montpellier it was 4. In Nantes it was 3!
