Re: Oh ***** here we go WW3
The doomsday clock was adjusted this year to 5 minutes to midnight - it was last adjusted in 2002...
During the Cuban missile crisis, it sat at 3 minutes to midnight...
Very scarey times.

Re: Oh ***** here we go WW3
of course the state of reporting by our friends in the US media/propaganda system doesn't help:
***
Not quite Paxman, right?
*** didn't see the CBS interview myself, the source is an anonymous comment on a Grauniad talkboard

interviewer: it is an undeniable "fact" that Iran is supplying weapons to Iraqi groups who are killing US soldiers
Mr A: who has established this "fact"?
interviewer: The US military

Re: Oh ***** here we go WW3
I watched it - I think it is actually a credit to liberal America, and Columbia in particular, that they allowed Ahmedinajad a platform. The requested, and granted, invitation to allow Columbia faculty & students to visit Iranian universities is interesting - is it a genuine attempt at opening dialogue & fostering friendships amongst the intellectucal elite of the two nations, and if not, what does it signify?

Re: Oh ***** here we go WW3
In a sense, the USA would have been far better advised to have chosen Iran rather than Iraq as a target to overthrow a despot and install democracy - Iran is a country that is well positioned to undergo a rennaissance.
