Irish Village it seems.

Did you know that new years eve has the highest rate of suicides compared to any other night of the year? Oh happy days! :D

Kit, know exactly what you mean. Can be a kind of depressing time. I usually don't bother celebrating it either but will have to this year as daughter landing in Dxb NYE and she's well excited at attending some event or other. So guess will have to don my happy hat and do the expected parental thing..........

Might go to Burj Khalifa, think she'd like that. Come to think of it, I might too. You're welcome to join us

Thanks BC. Thought it might not be too bad as over the Xmas period everywhere has been dead so gathered folks will still be at home visiting and not return until sometime following week but if everyone suddenly emerges from woodwork then I'll make provisions

Shame they stopped doing pork though, the food in there is pretty decent.

Yup, that's exactly where I'm headed - a pal has an apartment overlooking it all, so a great view from her balcony!! Have fun!!:)

I'll be at Irish Vilage with the new lady......not really my choice but peer pressure pushed me into it. Had to turn down a night on a yacht in AD as well :(

Re: NYE Festivities

Just a word of caution about the Burj Khalifa NYE fireworks show...as reported by Dubai Media Inc, whoever they are...the whole thing will only last 8 minutes, apparently:

"The fireworks display will last for three minutes commencing at 19:59:50GMT. The display will be preceded by a five-minute fire, water, and laser show on the Dubai Fountain, the world's tallest musical performing fountain, situated at the foot of the Burj Khalifa."

It seems that the whole show is being broadcast live, so for Kittykat and others who want to avoid the crush outside, it may not be such a bad idea to stay at home in front of the goggle box or computer with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a loved one. Just an option.
