Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
Hello all,
I have just got a contract to work for Tasnee in Al Jubail in KSA and I will be arriving June / July visa depending!! Can anyone give me the heads up as to what to expect out there (presently in the UK) I have heard and read many conflicting report ranging from polluted prison camp nightmare, to quite a nice place.
Any one got any info re Tasnee and the general area.
Many thanks

[F]Hello all. I am a new member though not a new expat. I've been in the Gulf for 13 years now so I guess you could call it home from home. I go back to Blighty every summer but am feeling a bit apprehensive this year with all the talk of 'credit crunch', 'recession', 'bankruptcy' and the like. Just how bad is it for the folks back home these days?[/FONT]

Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
if you can get onto arabian homes (lucky b@stard...) do it. there's a couple of golfers on there that have a regular game and there's also a weekly game of touch rugby on one of the other compounds. al hamra has the british school as apart of (or adjoining, i can't remember) and as such is more family orientated.
drop a note when you're feet are sandy

Visa is almost sorted so 1st July is still start date flying out on 27th/28th June.

Hey all... I'm probably asking a worthless question as experience so far has taught me that anything can change without notice here in the UAE but i still wanted to find out if any of you can answer this question and/or refer someone for legal advice. A company here hired several employees with a contract that had a working schedule of 5 weeks on, 3 weeks off. Today the owner of the company changed without warning a schedule now of 11 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Can this be done after the employees took the job based on the first schedule ? Any feedback would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
So where are you from?
Just moved beginning of March from Kent, UK. Worked in London for c. 15 years in property (investment and resorts mostly). Have decided to stop looking under the same stones for the same deals with the rest of the crowd - time to split the Uk and industry... Now heading up a new training outfit in Dubai and have clients across the ME region.
Got any kids?
Two boys - one six and one ten months... Not here yet - arriving September once I'm sorted...
Hobbies?
Socialising, frustrated ex rugby player, get a reasonably regular game of golf.
Whatever else
Happy to meet as many interesting people as poss - considered decision to come here for quite some time - not going anywhere so any advice gratefully received!!!
And yes, realise I put my name on my profile not knowing it couldn't be changed. You can call me Pieman
Cheers
Dan

Welcome Dan the Pieman
You will fit right in if you like Golf, prepare your wife to be a Golfing Widow.
I do understand as well, but the Guys should be able to give you more details that there are also Rugby Teams over here.
September is a good time to come as not only will you experience the heat, but you will also experience Ramadan.
good luck with you move over..
