they wouldnt let you do it in ab dabs if your visa has only a few months to run, doesnt help if you need to register your car or whatever, when they do bring it in properly.

Update on getting the biometric information taken in Mussafah. Last week you could turn up and wait. From this morning they are wanting proof that you have been SMS'd with an appointment. Judging from the people getting turned away, it could be busy for the next couple of months!!

Just went to the Arabic translation office and they could not do anything today because the Dubai Municipality website was down. Doh! Couldn't they keep a stack of blank forms available for completion? All they do there is translate the bloody answers into Arabic. They also insisted that my daughter's passport photo should have a sky blue background.

it was actually quite funny as i had my coveralls on. This caused a reflection with the camera, so i had to remove them from my upper body. Only problem was i had nothing on underneath so there was a fat lebo in the que who let me use his shirt, it was like a tent.

One thing to watch when u do get one. They tell u to put your eGate details on (which I did being a very frequent flyer) and it failed 4 or 5 times. When I chatted to immigration officer he said they mostly fail as eGates. I now have Nat ID AND eGate. What a waste.

yip, i always get it out at immigration, it never works and the police in attendance always tell me its of no use.
